So you’ve been pretty active in your Internet Marketing campaigns on Twitter lately, tweeted anywhere between 5 and 100 times a day, have over 1,000 followers, get between 20-30% of your tweets to be clicked on, but have yet to see any “conversions” at all (e.g. Optins, sales, LIKEs, etc.)?

Have you been trying to make something of yourself online but been failing miserably? Have you got more money going out than coming in? Have you made no money at all and watched the “gurus” constantly boast of their financial conquests day in and day out?

Taking action is one thing, being smart about it is another. If you simply do what everyone else is doing, you have a very slim chance at succeeding because others have already beaten you in the game and are way ahead of you.

Your only shot is at researching what others “have not” yet promoted, and that has a high “demand” amongst the web surfing population. By doing this you will have markets wide open for just you, staring at you with the hope that you will provide them with products they desperately need. You won’t ever need to promote anyone else’s products, you won’t ever be the underdog struggling for success online.

That, is the only path to success in home based internet marketing. Be smart, be sharp. Follow only the “steps” successful marketers have taken, but apply them to “your own” markets, “your own” ideas, and “your own” ways.

Be your own boss. Drive your own business. Be smart, be sharp. That is all it takes.

The principles and methods of Offline Direct Marketing have long been applied to Home Based Internet Marketing. The use of long form sales letters plagues the industry, with every tom, dick and harry trying to replicate online, what marketers have done offline for centuries, i.e. write long-winded, hard-to-read-in-one-go style sales letters that rarely ever capture the attention of the reader.

Prospects visiting a sales or squeeze page don’t have the patience nor the time to read through a 10 page sales letter. There is a much higher probability of prospects reading a printed version of the same sales letter if they receive it in the mail, not email. It’s just how things work. The average time anyone spends on a web page that has just text these days can vary between 2 seconds and 2 minutes. That’s never enough to read a long sales letter.

If you’re one of those people who’ve been employing the use of long-form sales letters on your landing pages and been wondering why your response rates are so low, you should seriously re-evaluate your home based internet marketing strategy and switch to video sales letters.

Making video sales letters is a lot more approachable for people surfing a web page. You can condense your entire long form sales letter into a series of short bullet points and make a powerpoint presentation out of it. Once you’re done writing up the powerpoint slides, which should take you roughly 30 seconds per slide to produce say a 10-slide presentation, you can record a voice narration of the same slides over them and convert it into a video using a popular video creation software like Camtasia.

Video sales letters when used in home based internet marketing, have the ability to captivate prospects atleast 20 times more than long form sales letters. They are much easier on the eyes, are restricted to a small space on the viewer’s screen, and above all, are much easier to spend say 4 to 8 minutes watching instead of reading 10 pages worth of written text.

It’s all about human nature. The more time anything requires, the less motivated prospects will be to stick around and read it. So why not save their time by giving them a highly condensed version of what your sales letter would look like on 10 pages, and save yourself the loss of yet another potential buyer who lost interest purely due to the fact that the sales letter was getting a bit boring to read.

Start using video sales letters today. Make them short, descriptive to the extent that they highlight the most important points from your sales letter, and stick your video on a landing page with a signup form and a lead magnet (e.g. a Free Report or Free Video) to encourage your prospects to at least give you their contact details (name and email address) in exchange for the freebie you are giving them for having visited your page.

Video sales letters are one of the most powerful tools you can have in your home based internet marketing arsenal. There are many free video creation software packages available today, and you can even record your own videos via YouTube now so there really is no excuse to not create video sales letters instead of long form sales letters.

The choice is yours. Stick to long form sales letters and lose many potential buyers who walk away due to sheer loss of patience, or capture more leads than you ever did before using short, catchy video sales letters and boost your leads, sales and ultimately your profits.

Recent statistics show that the number of people investing money in Media Buys has risen by as much as 47% in the year 2010. Marketers are now focusing more strongly on building highly targeted lists instead of building just “large” lists.The money is not simply “in” the list, it is in the “relationship with” the list. Anyone can have a large list of subscribers, but if you don’t develop a relationship with them, get them to trust you and have faith in your content, offers or products, then having a list is as good as not having one. The following post discusses how to use media buys to build highly targeted lists of demanding subscribers.

Having a product to sell, or a list of others’ products as an alternative, is all well and good, but if the Internet Marketer in question doesn’t have a targeted list of subscribers who require products in the same niche market, then it becomes extremely difficult to see even a vague trail leading to success online.

Every Internet Marketer needs to invest time, money and effort at some stage or another, in building a responsive list of prospects in his or her niche market. Learning how to build a list is often overly hyped into being a tedious and near-impossible task, as the “gurus” who make those claims would like to take as much time teaching the ever-so-simple principles required to build lists, in an attempt to justify the cost of their “Coaching” or “Courses” and would fail to do so if their thousand dollar products had only a few sentences worth of useful information enclosed.

It’s all about the human mindset. A high valued product needs a large amount of content in order to appeal to the potential prospect in order to justify its value. This is why most list building “courses” out there announce up front that it will take days and months worth of effort but if the “blueprint” is followed word for word, the desired outcome of building a highly responsive and targeted email list will be achieved.

Though such claims are true to the extent that the desired outcomes will eventually be achieved with hard work and effort, what’s often left out is the fact that it can ACTUALLY take a LOT LESS TIME to achieve such outcomes.

Getting targeted traffic in today’s internet climate is actually very easy, and all the tools, media and advertising avenues are publicly available for anyone and everyone to tap into to build high quality, responsive lists of subscribers.

One of the most popular methods this year in 2010 has been via “Media Buys” or buying Banner Advertisement space on websites in your niche that accept a small fee for placing banner ads linking back to your website(s).

The power of Media Buys is absolutely phenomenal.

In just a few simple steps below, you can easily start getting a surge of highly targeted traffic to build your list:

1. Choose your niche. This is crucial. For the purposes of this example, we will work with “make money online” as our chosen niche market.

2. Go over to Google and search for “make money online”.

3. You will now see the first page of Google results with 10 websites in the Organic Search Results in the middle of the page.

4. Starting with the first website, copy its URL.

5. Go over to QuantCast.com and enter this URL into the search box, then click “View” button.

6. The results will show you statistics such as how many Unique Visitors there are to the site as well as whether the site accepts AD’s or not (on the right where it says “ACCEPTS ADS”)

7. If the site accepts ads, go over to the website and pay for a banner advertisement for 30 days (it’s usually between $50 and $200 per month)

8. You will need to provide the site owner with a Banner Ad in 468×60, 125×125 or 250×250 dimensions or any other dimensions that the site asks, and link it back to “your” Optin page or website URL.

9. Once you have paid and submitted your banner ad, you will almost immediately start getting High Quality, Highly Targeted traffic to your Optin page.

Look at it this way. If the site you are paying to advertise on gets 2,000,000 Unique Visitors per month in your niche, and let’s say even 1% of that traffic visits your site, and then let’s say only 10% of the traffic that visits your site actually converts into Subscribers, that is effectively 2,000 Subscibers from just ONE MONTH’s advertising.

Now you may be thinking: “Oh but I’ll be spending $200.. that’s too expensive” or something similar.

Well, here’s the flipside of the coin:

1. Go to ClickBank.com’s Marketplace and select a Category of products that best fit your niche.

2. Choose the MOST POPULAR product with the Highest “Gravity” in that category. Gravity is a measure of how well a product is selling, so the higher the gravity, the more likely that it will sell.

3. Each sale your traffic generates will give you a Commision of around $30 depending on the product. Click on “Promote”, insert your ClickBank ID and create a “Hoplink”.

4. You can now change the settings on the Banner Ad you’ve paid for and insert your Hoplink as the URL that your paid traffic should go to.

Even if only 1.0% of your traffic (2000 people as described above) buys the product, that’s the equivalent of $30 x 20 = $600.

From one month of advertising for which you paid $200, you have now made $600, and are $400 in Profit!

To earn money online, you must invest money first, otherwise the road is long, time-consuming and very tedious.

Banner Advertising is by far the most effective advertising paradigm out there today. Banner ads are a lot more visible than text ads and the sheer size of the page that they occupy allows them to grab the attention of the visitors on almost all occasions.
