Email marketing, when executed properly, is an extremely effective marketing tool. Above all else, you should make sure you produce valuable, compelling content – if people aren’t interested in what you have to say, they aren’t going to subscribe for future emails.

One thing to bear in mind before writing your content is getting past the spam blockers; junk filters are quick to block suspicious messages. This is why it’s important to avoid spammer’s language; words and phrases such as ‘FREE!’, ‘Buy now!’, ‘Congratulations’ and ‘Winner!’ should be avoided at all costs. Junk filters are quick to pick-up on this ‘salesy’ jargon and so are the public.

Your subject line is the shortest piece of content you need to write but also the most important; it needs to be intriguing enough to get your email opened but not too pushy to drive people away. Good subject lines will offer to solve a problem, describe a benefit or arouse curiosity; this should lead to a click through to the rest of your content. Using an editorial magazine style often helps when writing the subject line and ellipsis (“) at the end of a sentence always creates a sense on intrigue”

The main bulk of content in your email needs to be specific to your target reader; think about what your target reader would like to hear. Mistakes are often made when emails are written without with target audience in mind; the content is meant to build relationships with potential customers and make them feel like a pal. This part of the email must be concise and stick to the point, you don’t want the reader to lose their trail of thought and you want them to stay focused on one thing and one thing only – your service or product.

The layout of your content needs to be broken up by headlines, captions, bullet points or lists. Sub-heading and captions make text easier to read, and the reader can choose which sections to read at their leisure.

Including a link to your website somewhere in your email is brilliant way to increase traffic to your site and encourage readers to find out more. You could also link to an online form for readers to fill out for more information, keep the form short and sweet, readers don’t want to be spending more than a minute filling it out – you could also include a phone number for the same purposes.

It’s important to track your email once it has been sent; your subscribers will tell you what you are getting right and what you are doing wrong and it’s important to listen to their views. From this, you can improve your email for next time. Don’t be disheartened if your email campaign takes a while to get started, the feedback you receive is essential in making your email a success.

Sometimes the most profound new marketing strategies strike you at first as not new at all. Hey, I knew that already doesn’t disqualify something from dramatically changing your business.

Enter setting expectations. Or even more accurately, NOT not setting expectations.

Problem: When you install an enterprise software system, the vendor must convert all the user company’s data to conform to the new system. Meanwhile, the decision-makers at the user company start thinking, Wait a second, this new expensive software can’t even handle the data our crappy current software handles just fine. What are we getting ourselves into. And eveything about the installation after that seems to go a bit rockier. Everything is seen through what-are-we-getting-ourselves-into eyes.

Problem: When a landscaping contractor remodels your back yard, the place looks awful (all torn up) for about 80% of the time. During that time the homeowner starts to question whether the contractor knows what he’s doing.

Solution: Let me tell you how you’re going to feel throughout some of the project. I know it’s hard to imagine, but that’s just the way these projects work. Realistic expectations foster comfort and a comfortable prospect or customer is a much happier prospect or customer.

A Few HINTS & TIPS TO GROW YOUR EMAIL LIST

Sending out strategic email campaigns is a great way to improve customer loyalty and gain new customers. Your customers will appreciate all the special offers and benefits they will receive from the newsletters. So how do you get customers to sign up. Here are a few tips to improve opt-in rates for your email marketing list. You really shouldn’t rely on this. Even better than text, place a sign up graphic on nearly every page encouraging customers to sign up.

Be Trustworthy

Assure your customers that you will not sell their information to other advertisers. Email Marketing is a permission based service. But since there are so many types of email marketing campaigns you can send besides the usual sales or promotional push, keep reading and we’ll bet you’ll find your next type of email campaign.

The best Of or Our Favorite Products email

This simple email can be sent featuring a bunch of the best services or products that you’ve chosen. Even if you get a poor response, take the answers you have and create a customer favorites email campaign that highlights the services and products recipients find divine. Email discussion lists are great ways of communicating with people who have similar interests as the topic of your Newsletter. But with the recession projected to extend over the next few quarters, marketers are going to have to revaluate their business strategies; now more than ever the business environment is one of cutting marketing costs and increasing gains. There’s no space in consumer’s lives for untargeted, irrelevant emails anymore and neither should there be any room left in yours.

  • Email Marketing Strategies And Spam Words Today I am going to share with you one of my email marketing strategies. In just about every circle online you will hear people talk about how important building your...

The topic of today’s discussion is an elementary one, but will benefit the more experienced marketers among us as well, so please do sit back with a nice hot cuppa and enjoy the next 5 minutes of advice from the hard-burned experts themselves.

As I’m sure you’re all aware, one of the most important jobs for any Internet Entrepreneur isbuilding a quality list of prospects.

Below are five steps for building stronger, more powerful lists that will deliver harder and more efficiently for your growing internet based business. With a stronger, better list, you will gradually (and sometimes on a gallop) see an increase in targeted traffic flow to your site, leading to both subscriber conversions and profits from sales.

However, subscriber conversions and sales don’t come easy, and over the next few email advisories, I will be highlighting many strategies you can use to get these as swiftly and efficiently as possible.

So let’s begin:

  1. The first thing to understand is that quality is more important than quantity when it comes to list building. While having a larger list may seem to be a great thing, if those people on the list are not likely to purchase your product or service then your list while larger is not effective. Creating a targeted list of customers that have a genuine potential for purchasing from you gives you a stronger foundation for potential sales and increased sales. You have the potential for reaching more potential customers by honing your list.
  2. The next concern with list building is keeping it up to date. You need to be constantly aware of contact addresses that are no longer valid. This is not something that you do once and forget about it. Email addresses change; people change jobs, internet service providers or even die. Sending your messages to invalid addresses is a waste of valuable time and energy. Not only that, it doesn’t give a true indicator of your customer base.
  3. The third things to consider when building your list are the services and computer programs offered today. Serious list building requires serious effort. Check out the technology and services available for building your list, as well as the professionals and support services that are out there. You may be well served by using one of the services that specializes in list building and autoresponders.
  4. Another element to consider in list building is the legality of what you are sending and how you are sending it. In recent years strict laws have been passed against inappropriate emailing. Failure to comply with these regulations and laws can and will result in stiff fines, penalties and even the loss of your internet site. If you are in doubt as to whether your message is in compliance, it is a good idea to consult with a legal professional to be certain. If in doubt, check it out. Don’t even think about purchasing a list of supposed opt in subscribers, you will very likely get burned. There is no substitute for building your own list!
  5. Last but not least, incorporate your list building into your marketing program. Start building your list from the very beginning and don’t stop. Set aside a few minutes every day for list maintenance. Schedule time each week for you major list building tasks. If you can incorporate the list building into the overall schedule of your marketing plan you are less likely to overlook the little things.

There we go, that wasn’t too long now was it? Great.

Please feel free to leave me your comments and feedback. Thanks for reading!

Google has responded to the launch of the new search engine NowRelevant.com by adding a new side bar menu to sort by date and time. This comes just 7 days after NowRelevant.com, a new search engine that shows the user everything about a subject for the last 14 days, and eliminates all SPAM and clutter sites in search results, went live with beta testing.

Middleton, MA, May 18, 2010 — Within one week of the launching of the new search engine, NowRelevant.com, Google has fired back with a new feature of their own. NowRelevant.com, which shows everything about a given subject for the past 14 days recently launched its public beta testing site. Within seven days, Google introduced a new sidebar menu that allows the user to sort results by days, weeks, and hours.

“We had a feeling that Google was waiting for us to go live with our beta before introducing their side bar menu,” says NowRelevant.com founder, Curt Dalton. “We were prepared for this move, and it obviously shows that Google saw the same weaknesses in their search results, like spam sites and tons of clutter, that we saw when we designed NowRelevant.com. It actually validates our business model.”

NowRelevant.com, which is the engine that runs the niche marketing and trend identifying software known as The Internet Time Machine, was introduced to the public for beta testing on May 1, 2010. The Internet Time Machine software is a complex set of cloud computers that monitors worldwide supply and demand curves in search engines and online communities to find new ideas and products that people are talking about and looking for, but can’t find enough suppliers for them.

“By looking at what people want, and then comparing it to what is out there for results, whether, organic results, or ppc results, we are able to identify niches or patterns in the supply/demand curves from around the world before anyone else.” says Curt Dalton. “This gives the Internet marketer, or affiliate marketer a tremendous advantage in finding the next ‘big thing’ or ‘hot idea’ before anyone else and allows themselves time to position themselves in that market before anyone else, whether by organic pages or an advertising campaign.”

The NowRelevant.com advertising system is state of the art as well, allowing advertisers to use video or banner ads in their pay per click advertising campaigns. “We feel people have been really limited by how Google serves their ads to search results. Allowing a video embed or a banner ad to appear next to search results is a huge advantage for advertisers. A picture can say a thousand words, and a short video can say ten thousand words to a possible customer,” says Ali Khan, head of technology for NowRelevant.com. “Since the Internet Time Machine software has to filter out all SPAM and SEO DUMMY sites from its results on trends, we are able to eliminate all those same results from our search engine results. Hence, you have a very clean organic results page with no SPAM or clutter.”

NowRelevant.com is rapidly picking up fans worldwide. “I’ve been using NowRelevant over the last couple of days. It’s interesting to see the totally different set of results I get when using NR vs Google for the search term – England Cricket. Where NR gave me small blog sites and places I could actually watch the cricket live, Google gives me big corporate sites – It’s clear that NR results are More Relevant – which is great,” says Daniel Jackson, an Internet marketer from England.

The quality of results is getting stressed more and more by users. “Another definite advantage we have over Google is that we have 0.0% junk sites in our organic results, end of story,” says Curt Dalton. “Nowhere on any other search engine are there as fresh and relevant results from blogs, mailing lists, and newsgroups as what we have. We cover millions of sources and have over 67,000 PR6+ blogs that we index daily.”

With NowRelevant.com continuing to expand its user base, it has recently added a 20% referral program on all PPC deposits. The search engine will also be soon offering additional features including trend clouds, such as those seen on blog sites which enable users to see what results others are searching for.
